Power BI Connector installation instructions
In order to make the Add-On work, you need to install Power BI Desktop and the Archicad Power BI Connector.
- Copy the .mez file to the connectors folder (this step is done by the installer automatically). The Add-Ons folder typically looks like this: *”C:\Users\User\Documents\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors”*.
- Enable unverified extensions.
- Start Power BI Desktop.
- Open “File > Options and settings > Options”.
- In the left panel, select “Security”.
- Under Data Extensions, select “(Not Recommended) Allow any extension to load without validation or warning”.
- Click “OK”.
- The connector is now installed and ready to use.
Connect Archicad and Power BI
Prepare Archicad
- Open the Power BI Palette from “Bimdots / Power BI Connection.”
- Select the view used for property calculation and choose the properties you want to transfer from Archicad. You can define multiple data sets, each with a different source view and property set.
- Copy the project name using the button in the top-right corner of the palette.
Transfer Data to Power BI
- Click “Get Data“ on the ribbon.
- Select “Archicad Connector“.
- Paste the project name and, optionally, the data set name. If you leave the data set name empty, the default data set will be used.
- Click “Load.“
Your data is now ready to use in Power BI.
